INTENT
I wanted a large sculpture of a hulking character to display in my bare apartment, but didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on one, so I decided to make one.
After failing several times to make sculptures out of air-dry clay, and then inspired by the work of Robin Wight, I decided to make this sculpture entirely out of galvanized steel wire.
This sculpture is 1:8 scale of an 8' tall character.
Imported free digital model of Hulk into Blender.
Built skeleton rig and put him into desired pose.
Measured thicknesses of all body parts, and lengths of all bones.
Used thick-gauged wire for armature.
Made drawing of feet for stance.
Used thick wire to create a skeleton.
Used medium wire to create toe bones.
Used thin-gauged wire to fill-out and 'skin' the toes.
Used medium wire to shape the head.
Used thin wire to start to create the skin the head.
Head completed.
Attached head to body.
Made 1:8 scale fists out of plasticine clay for reference.
Measured and marked each finger joint on medium wire.
Used image of my hand on screen to check finger lengths.
Referenced clay model to accurately determine bone angles.
Both fist skeletons complete.
Thin wire forms the fingers.
Fingers completed.
Hand attached.
Medium wire forms muscles.
