Wire Sculpture

I made a 1/8 scale sculpture out of steel wire.

After failing several times to make sculptures out of air-dry clay, and then inspired by the work of Robin Wight, I decided to make this sculpture entirely out of galvanized steel wire.

I started by downloading a free digital model of Hulk, and then building a digital skeleton inside it to measure the length of the bones needed for the sculpture's armature. I used thick wire to make the armature (or skeleton). Then I used medium and thin wires to make the extremities (head, fingers, and toes), making them separately before attaching them to the main skeleton. Then I weaved in medium wire to fill out the general shapes and silhouettes. And then I weaved in thin wire to make the skin. No welding or glueing was involved.

The sculpture is 1/8 scale of an 8'-tall Hulk. It measures 10" tall, 9 1/2" wide, and 7" deep. It weighs 4lbs 10oz (2.1kg).
