Planter Cover

Animals kept digging through my planters, so I built a removable cover.

I designed the planter cover in SketchUp. I used 5/8" cedar nailing strips, and aluminum wire mesh. Instead of nails or screws, I used lap joints and glue. I finished the wood with 3 coats of boiled linseed oil. I cut and attached the wire mesh with regular staples. Then, I covered the staples and mesh seams (most of them) with more cedar strips.

I'm predicting that the exposed staples on the middle uprights will get squeezed out after the first winter, but I couldn't think of an elegant way to hide them. Next time.

SketchUp is amazing.
